Pac-12 votes UCLA’s Stolz as men’s soccer player of the week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced today that UCLA’s Leo Stolz was voted the Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 10-16.  

Stolz, a midfielder from Munich, Germany, played a key role in both Bruins victories over the weekend. The junior scored the lone goal for UCLA in the 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara, which was also his first goal of the year. Stolz netted one along with one assist in the overtime match against San Diego, and was also heavily involved in the San Diego own goal that ended the match, as he attempted to cross the ball to the far post in the box before a Torero defender knocked the ball into the net. He was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week ending Sept. 15. Overall, Stolz leads the Bruins with five points on the year. 

The honor is Stolz’ first-career weekly accolade, and marks UCLA’s 51st player of the week overall. 

The No. 11 Bruins stay on the West Coast this weekend, traveling to UC Irvine on Thursday, Sept. 19 and then look to upset No. 3 Cal State Northridge to wrap up their road trip Sunday, Sept. 22. 

Pac-12 Networks will feature the Bruins nine times this season, beginning with UCLA’s Conference opener versus San Diego State. Pac-12 men’s soccer will have 28 matches overall air on the Pac-12 Networks. For the full television schedule, visit www.pac-12.com.
