California

After watching Cal manhandle Washington 82-56 last night at Haas Pavilion to jump out to a 4-0 record in league play, our Adam Butler felt compelled to write that Cal is doing big things with an improved Richard Solomon for his Pac Hoops blog. Good stats in here to back up his titular claim. Also this just in: Steve Birnbaum and Christian Dean were selected second and third overall in the MLS SuperDraft this morning.

Washington

After the 26-point loss, there was nothing left for Lorenzo Romar to say but “Cal beat us pretty soundly tonight.” Check the link to see the rest of his postgame comments.

Stanford

If there’s one thing we learned from Stanford’s 80-48 thumping of Washington State last night, it’s that Josh Huestis’ mother is his biggest cheerleader. She was going cray every time the dude scored. Also, JJ Koval just went ninth overall to the San Jose Earthquakes.

Washington State

Here are some shot charts from the Washington State-Stanford game courtesy of CougCenter. Hey, at least Que Johnson and Royce Woolridge played well, right?

UCLA

If you ask Greg Anthony, he’d tell you that Steve Alford is doing a “terrific job” as UCLA’s head coach. Big one in Boulder for the Bruins tonight at 5 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Networks.

Colorado

Colorado will play without No. 25 for a full 40 for the first time tonight against the No. 25 team in the country, and Tad Boyle says they’re not changing their approach with Spencer Dinwiddie out.

Arizona State

Big one tonight in the desert with Arizona State traveling to Tucson to take on the top-ranked Wildcats, and Herb Sendek is hoping a poor practice can lead to a season-defining upset. Supposedly his NC State boys were coming off a horrible practice when they unseated the top-ranked Tar Heels back in ’98.

Arizona

Arizona State had that stretch in 2008 and 2009 where it won five straight against the Wildcats, but it has been pretty much all Arizona since, leading Anthony Gimino to write that Arizona is restoring supremacy against Arizona State. 6 p.m. PT on Fox Sports 1, y’all.

USC

So the Trojans are looking for their first Pac-12 win this season, and the Daily Trojan provides a nice preview of their game tonight at Utah. 7 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Networks.

Utah

Did ya know that there is a trio of Utes from LA who are set to face USC and UCLA this weekend? Yup, those three guys are Brandon Taylor, Dakarai Tucker and Delon Wright.

Oregon State

While the Beavers are just 1-3 in conference play, Oregon State men’s basketball is making strides from beyond the arc: The team has connected on 53 percent of its three-point attempts in conference play. Das good.

Oregon

The Ducks are taking a three-game losing streak into the Civil War on Sunday, so you could say that the Oregon men’s basketball team is on ice right now.
