Utah

I like this here: The Deseret News picks the ultimate basketball pickup team from the state of Utah, featuring a roster of college basketball players from the Beehive State. Not surprisingly, Delon Wright is the first guy pulled onto the playground court.

California

Jeff Faraudo informs us that Cal is tight-lipped on its search to replace Mike Montgomery. Travis DeCuire and Russell Turner are the only confirmed candidates for the job.

Arizona

Sports Illustrated college basketball writer Seth Davis ranks Arizona third in his early top 25 for 2014-15. He also has Colorado in there at No. 9 and Oregon at No. 23.

Oregon State

Jesse Sowa of the Corvallis Gazette-Times has a Q&A with Oregon State men’s basketball coach Craig Robinson. As always, Robinson gives some insightful answers.

Stanford

How ‘bout another Q&A? This time with Stanford offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren. Stanford’s spring game is Saturday airing on Pac-12 Bay Area.

Washington State

A reinforcement is coming to the Palouse, as Washington State added running back transfer Aaron Baltazar. The former Boise State kid rushed for 234 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Broncos as a freshman (he will redshirt 2014 per transfer rules). Also, the Cougars’ game at Nevada has been moved to Friday, Sept. 5 and will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. PT (it was originally scheduled for that Saturday).

Oregon

We got a whole lotta spring football features for ya with spring games on the horizon, and we’ll start with Oregon’s young centers getting valuable practice reps this spring behind veteran Hroniss Grasu.

Washington

Washington running back Deontae Cooper is embracing his second spring season. He suffered three knee injuries in his first three years, but was impressive in limited carries last campaign. He has also been granted two extra years of eligibility by the NCAA for all of his injury troubles, so he’ll be on campus for a while.

Arizona State

Let’s take you to Tempe now, where D.J. Foster’s success is likely tied to his ASU supporting cast. No more Marion Grice to lean on, so Foster will be the main attraction in the backfield for Arizona State.

Colorado

Sho’ sounds like Colorado linebacker Addison Gillam is getting stronger, according to our guy Kyle Ringo. Spring game for the Buffs is Saturday.

UCLA

Transfers can really bolster a team, and Malcolm Bunche’s arrival is timely for UCLA. The former Miami offensive lineman could potentially fill the shoes left behind by Xavier Su’a-Filo, who is hoping to hear his name called in the NFL Draft.

USC

After suffering a season-ending ankle injury against Notre Dame last season, USC tailback Justin Davis is eager to return. He looked impressive when he was healthy, averaging almost seven yards per carry and reaching pay dirt six times in seven games.
