Roundup: Ashley turns pro; Larry K gets extension

Arizona

It’s official now – Arizona basketball forward Brandon Ashley declared for the NBA draft. The Wildcats were an impressive 94-17 in his three years in Tucson.

Utah

Utah basketball coach Larry Kyrstkowiak agreed to a contract extension through the 2022-23 season, and he’ll now make $2.4 million per year. Good stuff.

Colorado

Colorado men’s basketball has a plan to deal with Jaron Hopkins transferring out of the program, writes Brian Howell. Colorado announced Hopkins’ intentions to transfer on Wednesday.

Arizona State

Doug Haller writes that Bobby Hurley is becoming a strong candidate for the Arizona State basketball head coaching job. Hurley is 42-20 in two years at Buffalo, leading the Bulls to the NCAA tournament this season.

California

Cal’s Ryan Murphy was named Pac-12 Men’s Swimmer of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday. The sophomore won NCAA and conference titles in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

USC

Washington State

Oregon

Former Michigan football head coach Brady Hoke was watching Oregon practice Wednesday. Andrew Greif reports that Hoke has been visiting teams across the land, including trips to Tennessee and TCU.

Stanford

The AP’s Antonio Gonzalez tells us that the Stanford defense is undergoing a major overhaul this spring. He points out that right now Stanford is practicing with just one player who has started a game for the Cardinal (Blake Martinez).

Oregon State

David Lombardi features Oregon State running back Storm Woods, who is gearing up for his final season in Corvallis. Dude already has more than 2,000 rushing yards and almost 1,000 receiving yards for his career.

UCLA

Ted Miller is of the opinion that UCLA will have a good ground game for whoever turns out to be the starting quarterback. Paul Perkins led the Pac-12 in rushing, for starters.

Washington
