Roundup: Sean Miller named head coach of USA U19 team

Arizona

Arizona basketball coach Sean Miller has been named head coach of the USA U19 team that will play at the FIBA U19 World Championship (June 27-July 5 in Crete, Greece). He replaces Billy Donovan, who was originally named HC but since took over as the head honcho for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oregon State

The Oregonian gives us nine potential candidates to be the next Oregon State AD. Also, Oregon State baseball beat Portland 20-0 Wednesday night behind seven home runs (tying a school record for dingers). Wowsers.

Oregon

The second-seeded Oregon softball team begins NCAA regional play Thursday against BYU (5 p.m., GoDucks.com/live for the live stream).

California

California Golden Blogs provides an outlook of Cal softball as it heads to NCAA regional play in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

USC

USC men’s tennis plays Duke in the NCAA round of 16 Thursday at 5 p.m. PT. The defending champs are in the round of 16 for the ninth consecutive season.

Washington

Scott Hanson of The Seattle Times features Washington golfer Cheng-Tsung Pan, a senior who holds the record for most career victories for a UW men’s golfer. Interesting backstory on the dude from Taiwan.

Colorado

The Denver Post’s Tom Kensler features Colorado golfers and identical twins Jeremy Paul and Yannik Paul. The Germany natives lead the Buffs in scoring average as the Buffs begin regional play Thursday in Noblesville, Indiana.

Arizona State

Doug Haller writes that a filled-up Sun Devil Stadium is a must for Arizona State football. The renovations will not be done until the start of the 2017 season, but a 2015 home schedule featuring USC, Oregon and Arizona should certainly entice the fans in the fall.

Stanford

From a couple of days ago now… Former Stanford cornerback Wayne Lyons will transfer to Michigan as a graduate student and can play immediately in 2015. Also, David Lombardi tells us that safety Zach Hoffpauir is leaning towards turning pro in baseball.

Utah

The Utah football coaching staff will be at six “satellite camps,” or out-of-state camps. Kyle Bonagura thinks this is a good thing for the Utes.

UCLA

Jack Wang informs us that the Jim Mora Family Foundation will host its ninth annual celebrity golf classic Monday morning. Troy Aikman, Marcus Allen, Dick Butkus and LaDainian Tomlinson are expected to be there.

Washington State

Former Coug Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 21 points in Golden State’s 98-78 victory over Memphis in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals Wednesday night in Oakland.
