Roundup: Utah fourth nationally in increased attendance for men's hoops

Utah

Utah men's basketball ranked fourth in the nation in increased attendance (first in the Pac-12) with nearly 2,000 more people per home game at the Huntsman Center. Impressive showing for the Utes. Also, Dallin Bachynski and Delon Wright are re-united on the Toronto Raptors’ Summer League team in Las Vegas, The Salt Lake Tribune informs. Jordan Bachynski and Norman Powell are also on the Toronto Summer League entry.

Oregon State

A note that got buried in the holiday weekend shuffle: OSU alum Josh Osich made his MLB debut with the San Francisco Giants last Friday night against the Nationals. Kid tossed a scoreless inning in relief en route to becoming the 30th Beaver all-time to play in the majors.

Washington State

Washington State men’s basketball announced its nonconference schedule Monday; Gonzaga makes the trip to Pullman Dec. 2, while the Cougs will head to Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic.

Arizona

Arizona basketball coach Sean Miller led the U.S. to gold at the U-19 FIBA World Championship Sunday, defeating Croatia 79-71 in the championship round. Miller had some help from incoming Wildcat frosh Allonzo Trier.

Oregon

Jeff Eisenberg writes that Oregon men’s basketball should be excited for next season thanks to the play of Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey at the FIBA U-19 World Championships. Brooks averaged 18.8 points and 6.2 rebounds for Canada, while Dorsey held it down for Greece with 15.9 points per game on 52 percent shooting from downtown.

UCLA

Stanford

Colorado wide receiver Nelson Spruce was named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list. The Maxwell Award is given to the best player in college football.
