2015 Pac-12 Football Media Days: Commissioner Scott's favorite player is Larry Scott

BURBANK, Calif. – Among all the points Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott hit on in his opening remarks at 2015 Pac-12 Football Media Days – the 100th year of the conference, nine NCAA titles for the Pac-12 in 2014-15, adding spotters to help identify head trauma quicker during football games, etc. – he made sure to carve out some time for a player who holds a special place in his mind, Oregon State cornerback Larry Scott.

Going through some of the accomplishments of individual student-athletes at the media days, Scott said “And then my favorite Pac-12 player Larry Scott… Aside from having a great name, Larry is going to graduate this year and is also the first in his family to earn a degree.”

And aside from being on track to graduate, he’s a pretty good football player. Scott, a 12-game starter in 2014, led the Beavers with 11 pass break-ups last year and was named preseason second team All-Pac-12 by Phil Steele heading into the new campaign. He is one of the leaders of a green defensive unit that has to replace nine starters from 2014, not to mention learning a new playbook from a new head coach and new defensive coordinator.

Apparently the feeling is mutual.

"He's my favorite commissioner," the Oregon State cornerback quipped when he took the podium.
