Utah

Well that was fun, Utah fan. The Utes won their first Pac-12 conference opener in impressive fashion (understatement of the century), whipping the Ducks 62-20 in Eugene. The win has Whittingham and Co. up to No. 10 in the country, but Dan Wetzel and Pat Forde wonder why Utah isn’t ranked No. 1 in their latest podcast. And, ICYMI, here’s Boobie Hobbs’ 69-yard punt return for a touchdown that fooled out the Ducks and the FOX camera operator. Oh those tricky Utes.

UCLA

Josh Rosen looked like J-Chosen again after a couple of freshman-esque weeks, throwing for 284 yards and two scores to lead the Bruins to a 56-30 trumping of Arizona in Tucson. George Schroeder of USA Today writes that Rosen is part of the Bruins’ long-term plans.

California

Leading the Golden Bears to a 30-24 win at Washington that has the Golden Bears in the national rankings for the first time since 2010 (coaches’ poll) and 4-0 for the first time since 2007, Jared Goff is the projected No. 2 pick in the 2016 NFL draft by NFLDraftScout.com senior analyst Dane Brugler (of course, he could come back for his senior season).

USC

Kyle Bonagura recaps USC’s 42-14 win at Arizona State, discussing what the victory means for the Trojans. Now that’s how you bounce back from a loss that had people think the sky was falling.

Oregon

After dropping to 2-2, Oregon is out of the AP top 25 for the first time since 2009, breaking a streak of 98 consecutive poll appearances.

Arizona

Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon was knocked out of the UCLA game after suffering a hit to the head in the second quarter. No word yet on the extent of his injury or when he’ll be able to play again.

Arizona State

Watching the Sun Devils get blown out by USC, Doug Haller wonders if slowing down the pace on offense is Arizona State’s best option. The Sun Devils did a lot of – get this – huddling against the Trojans.

Washington State

I enjoyed this read from PJ Kendall of CougCenter on the proud tradition of Ol’ Crimson (the flag almost didn’t make it to Tucson) and why Washington State fans deserve a College GameDay appearance in Pullman whenever it happens, so Czech it out.

Colorado

Heading into conference play on a three-game win streak, Colorado is “wary” of Oregon as it gets ready to play the Ducks at home Saturday night (Brian Howell on the story).

Stanford

Head coach David Shaw said offensive line play keyed Stanford’s 42-24 win at Oregon State, notes Jon Wilner. The Cardinal rushed for 325 yards, 206 of which came from Christian McCaffrey.

Oregon State

Despite losing at home by 18 to Stanford, the Oregon State rebuilding project is ahead of schedule thanks to quarterback Seth Collins, writes Jason Quick of The Oregonian.

Washington

Kirk DeGrasse of UW Dawg Pound grades Washington’s 30-24 loss to Cal.
