SAN FRANCISCO -- As it embarks on its 100th year, the Pac-12 Conference has been defined by excellence and championships, and has been home to sports legends and superstars. The year-long celebration will include marking the date of the official formation 100 years ago on December 2, a commemorative logo, and special programming on Pac-12 Networks that includes All-Century teams in each sport. In addition, the Conference will release a series of This Month in Pac-12 History releases throughout 2015-16 academic year to highlight memorable moments that occurred in that month in the 100-year history.

This Month in Pac-12 History - MARCH:
1908: The first recorded no-hitter in Conference baseball history is thrown by California’s Robert Jordan as he stymies Loyola Marymount, 9-1, on March 14.

1939: Oregon wins the first-ever NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on March 27, 1939. The Ducks defeated Ohio State, 46-33, in Evanston, Ill., on the campus of Northwestern University.

1940: On March 14, Colorado men’s basketball defeated Duquesne, 51-40, to capture the NIT postseason crown.

1968: The first perfect game in Conference baseball history is thrown by Washington State’s Rick Austin as he blanks Gonzaga, 5-0, on March 22.

1987: Arizona State defeats Washington State, 76-60, on March 5 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles in the first-ever Pac-10 Men’s Basketball Tournament game. Three days later, UCLA captured the first Pac-10 Tournament title with a 76-64 win over Washington.

1989: Cherie Nelson, USC, scores a Pac-12 women’s basketball-record 50 points in a 115-106 loss at California on March 10.

1990: Arizona’s Matt Muehlebach recorded the only triple-double in Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament history with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists vs. USC on March 9.

1993: Michele Granger of California pitches her fifth perfect game on March 21, setting the Conference's softball record for the most in a career.

1997: Arizona won its first-ever NCAA men’s basketball championship with a 84-79 overtime victory over Kentucky on March 31. The Wildcats are the only team ever to defeat three No. 1 seeds en route to the national title.

1999: Washington State’s Bernard Lagat wins NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile and 3,000-meter race on March 9, 1999. He was named the 1999 NCAA Indoor Male Athlete of the Year.

2002: Third-seeded Arizona State upsets top-seeded Stanford, 70-63, in the first-ever Pac-10 Women’s Basketball Tournament in Eugene, Ore., on March 4.

2009: Colorado’s Jenny Simpson (Barringer) set an indoor collegiate record on March 14 with a 3,000-meter time of 8:42.03, good for a first-place finish at the NCAA Championships.

2014: Fifth-seeded USC plays four games in four days, including a semifinal upset over top-seeded Stanford, to win the program’s first-ever Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament title on March 9. The lowest seed to ever win the tournament, the Trojans upset third-seeded Oregon State, 71-62.

2015: On March 21, Oregon State’s Drew Rasmussen records the first perfect game in school history, and the fourth in Pac-12 baseball history, as he struck out 10 in a 3-0 win over Washington State.
