Roundup: Devon Allen returns to football

Oregon

Devon Allen is back in Eugene practicing with the Oregon football team, and Mark Helfrich told reporters that Allen will be ready to play in Saturday’s opener against UC Davis (Pacific Takes).

USC

Tim Tebow held his baseball workout at USC Tuesday, running a 6.7-6.8-second 60-yard dash. He also hit a few bombs over the right-field wall.

Washington State

Washington State football announced a home-and-home series with Utah State, reports Jacob Thorpe. The teams will play in 2020 (Logan, Utah) and 2021 (Pullman).

Oregon State

Sweet! Mike Richman of The Oregonian/OregonLive reports that Pac-12 Networks analyst and former Oregon State basketball player Lamar Hurd will be the Portland Trail Blazers’ TV color commentator.

UCLA

Jon Rothstein reports that UCLA men’s basketball will be a headliner in the 2017 CBE Classic in Kansas City alongside Baylor, Wisconsin and Creighton.

Arizona

Bruce Pascoe reports that former Arizona basketball player Elliott Pitts is transferring to Diablo Valley College and will redshirt next season at his hometown junior college.

Utah

Utah women’s soccer defeated Beijing Normal 5-1 Tuesday morning in Salt Lake City thanks to a brace from Paola Van Der Veen.

Arizona State

Jeff Metcalfe is of the opinion that the kicking game will be a big strength for Arizona State football this season. Kicker Zane Gonzalez has a chance to finish his career as the nation’s all-time leading scorer regardless of position, while punter Matt Haack is statistically the top returner at his position in the conference.

Washington

Percy Allen features Washington cornerback Sidney Jones, who could very well be the best CB in the Pac-12. At least one NFL draft expert sees him as the top-rated cornerback draft prospect.
