Pac-12 names first Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week of 2017

The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of March 13-19:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Ashtyn Davis, California
Junior
Santa Cruz, Calif.

Davis won the men's 110-meter hurdles at Saturday's Hornet Invitational hosted by Sacramento State with a time of 13.89, an early-season mark good for third in NCAA Division I.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Chelsey Albertson, Arizona State

Santa Clarita, Calif.

Albertson led a field of 37 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational and posted a new personal best of 4:20.24 in the 1,500 meters, currently the top time in the country in the by more than two seconds. Her time also moved her into sixth on the ASU all-time list.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Nick Ponzio, USC

Temecula, Calif.

Ponzio won the shot put at the Trojan Invitational with an impressive early-season mark of 19.09 meters (62'-7.75"). That mark is the current NCAA-leading throw.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Maggie Ewen, Arizona State

Ewen, the USTFCCCA Women's National Athlete of the Week, finished first out of 27 competitors at the Baldy Castillo Invitational and upped her Pac-12 record with a hammer throw of 72.71 meters (238'-6"), currently the best mark in the nation by more than five meters. Her mark broke the American collegiate record in the event and is now less than a foot short of the overall record of 72.94 (239'-4") set by Jenny Dahlgren of Georgia in 2007.
