Roundup: Luke Falk shines in Washington State spring game

Crimson defeated Gray 35-10 in Washington State’s spring game, and Jacob Thorpe has the recap. Luke Falk showed out, as expected, throwing two touchdown passes in the first half before sitting out the second.

California

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas addressed the media for the first time after his sister’s death following Boston’s Game 4 victory over the Chicago Bullls. “Mentally and emotionally, I’m not here, so I just feed off what the guys give me,” Thomas said after scoring 33 Sunday night. His younger sister, Chyna, died in a car accident on April 15.

Colorado

One more NBA update, as the Houston Rockets’ bench began laughing at Andre Roberson missing free throws during the fourth quarter of Houston’s Game 4 win over Roberson’s Oklahoma City Thunder (Yahoo! Sports). The former Buff has been a key contributor all year and is one of the best defenders in the NBA, but Roberson is somehow just 2-for-17 from the foul line during the playoffs this season.

UCLA

Former UCLA great Tyus Edney has been promoted to assistant men’s basketball coach under Steve Alford (Associated Press). Edney has been the Bruins’ director of operations the past seven seasons.

Stanford

Stanford softball got its first Pac-12 win in nearly two years by defeating Oregon State 8-6 in eight innings Sunday in Corvallis. The Cardinal’s last conference victory was May 3, 2015.

USC

USC women’s lacrosse wrapped up an undefeated conference season by toppling UC Davis 18-9 in the MPSF regular-season finale. The top-seeded Trojans host the MPSF Tournament this week.

Utah

Utah softball defeated Arizona State 2-1 Sunday in Tempe in large thanks to Bridget Castro’s home run. The Utes took two of three in the series to improve to 30-9 on the season and 12-4 in Pac-12 play.

Arizona State

Arizona State baseball lost to CSU Bakersfield 8-6 Sunday afternoon in Tempe, falling to 18-20 on the season after taking two of three from the Roadrunners.
