USC and Arizona State all came down to the final match on court six with Angela Kulikov clinching the match for the Trojans. Arizona State took the doubles point with the team of Samantha Hampton and Kassidy Jump on court three (6-2) and the team of Alex Osborne and Nicole Fossa-Huergo on court one (6-2). Pac-12 Player of the Week honoree Gabby Smith took the victory on court two (6-2, 6-3), Zoë Katz had a victory on court four (6-2, 7-6 (12)), Rianna Valdes took court three (6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-1) to give USC the tie and the deciding match to Kulikov. The Trojans now face No. 2 seed California at 2 p.m. at the Weil Tennis Academy.

Oregon took the doubles point against UCLA with a victory by the team of Alyssa Tobita and Rifanty Kahfiani. UCLA took the early lead with victories from previous Pac-12 Player of the Week winners Ena Shibahara on court No. 1 and Jada Hart on court No. 3. Oregon answered with the deciding point coming down to Shweta Sangwan on court two to take the Ducks to the semifinals (4-6, 7-6, 6-3). Oregon faces No. 1 seed Stanford at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club at 2 p.m.

Stanford got off to an early lead thanks to the doubles team of Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Caroline Doyle and partner Melissa Lord and Emma Higuchi and Caroline Lampl. Emily Arbuthnott and Melissa Lord each got wins with Taylor Davidson clinching the match on court three (7-5, 6-1). The Cardinal meets Oregon for the second time this season, previously winning 7-0 during the regular season.

California’s team of Olivia Hauger and Karla Popovic went into a tie breaker with Washington’s Kenadi Hance and Stacey Fung to decide the doubles point (6-6 (7-5)). The Bears came out on top and also took wins with victories by Popovic on court two (6-1, 6-2), Denise Starr on court three (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) and both Maria Smith and Maegan Manasse finishing simultaneously to clinch the match over the Huskies. California meets USC for the third time in 2017, previously taking two wins over the Trojans during the regular season. 

The 2017 Pac-12 Women’s Tennis Championships continue tomorrow at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club and the Weil Tennis Academy at 2 p.m. The championship match scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 29 at Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif.
