CORVALLIS, Ore. - COLORADO sophomore Isaiah Oliver and WASHINGTON STATE senior Alissa Brooks-Johnson lead after Saturday's opening day of the 2017 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships combined events at OREGON STATE's Whyte Track & Field Center.

Oliver (4,006), who doubles as a cornerback for the Buffs' football team, will carry a 100-plus point lead over OREGON's Mitch Modin (3,896) heading into Sunday's final five events of the men's decathlon. Oliver matched CALIFORNIA's Tyler Brendel with a school-record time of 10.82 seconds in the 100-meter dash, won the long jump with a program-best mark of 24'-1.75" and also captured the 400m in 48.15 to seize the Day 1 lead.

WASHINGTON's Cole Jensen (3,892) is just four points behind Modin, while Brendel (3,781) is in fourth and OREGON's Joe Delgado (3,702) is fifth.

WSU heptathletes hold first and second place through four events as 2015 champion Brooks-Johnson (3,352) holds a narrow 52-point margin over teammate Liz Harper (3,300). Brooks-Johnson finished in the top three of a trio of events on Saturday, including a four-way tie for first with a high jump of 5'-6.5" (1.69m), a season-best 14.06 in the 100m hurdles and personal-best 24.83 in the 200.

USC's Lyndsey Lopes (3,248) is another 52 points behind in third with Kara Hallock (3,240) of host OSU just eight points behind her. UCLA's Kendall Gustafson (3,199) is in fifth.

Day Two of the combined events of the 2017 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships continues on Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT. Oliver is seeking to become the first Colorado athlete to capture the Pac-12 decathlon title, while Brooks-Johnson aims to become the second Cougar to win multiple Pac-12 heptathlon crowns along with Ellanee Richardson (2001-03).
