NCAA Regionals up next for Pac-12 Men's Golf
SAN FRANCISCO-- Six Pac-12 Conference men’s golf teams will be in action next week as the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships get underway at six regional sites May 15-17. Representing the Pac-12 will be ARIZONA STATE, COLORADO, Conference champion OREGON, STANFORD, USC and WASHINGTON.
NCAA REGIONAL SITES
Sammamish, Wash. – Aldarra Golf Club (Par 71, 6,912 yards)
USC (No. 1 seed) – The Trojans, led by a trio of first team All-Pac-12 performers Sean Crocker (70.76 avg), Rico Hoey (70.88) and Justin Suh (71.24), enter the NCAA Championships as the No. 2 ranked team by Golfweek. USC has posted nine top 3 finishes this season, including victories at the Cypress Point Classic, Gifford Collegiate, Southern Highlands Collegiate and the Western Intercollegiate.
WASHINGTON (No. 5 seed) – Washington will host the Sammamish regional and has finished in the top 5 in seven of 11 tournaments this season. The Huskies are led by All-Pac-12 second team performer Corey Pereira (71.72) and freshman Henry Lee (72.54). Pereira has five top 10 finishes, including a victory at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, while Lee tied for low freshman honors at the Pac-12 Championships (T14, +6). Teammate Carl Yuan (71.50) is coming off a fourth-place tie at the Pac-12 Championships.
Stanford, Calif. – Stanford Golf Course (Par 70, 6,727 yards)
STANFORD (No. 1 seed) – The Cardinal have posted five top 3 finishes this season behind Byron Nelson Award winner Maverick McNealy (70.00), and sophomores Franklin Huang (71.35) and Brandon Wu (71.96). With his win at the Nike Collegiate, McNealy tied Tiger Woods and Patrick Rodgers with a school record 11 victories. Stanford is coming off win at The Goodwin and a pair of second place finishes at the Western Intercollegiate and Pac-12 Championships in its last three events.
Baton Rouge, La. – University Club of Baton Rouge (Par 72, 7,372 yards)
OREGON (No. 2 seed) – The Pac-12 champions, and defending NCAA champions, Oregon has posted a top five finish in all 11 events this season under Pac-12 Coach of the Year Casey Martin, including victories in five of the last eight tournaments. Senior Wyndham Clark (69.45), the Pac-12 Golfer of the Year, paces the Ducks with three tournament victories – Arizona Intercollegiate, Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and Pac-12 Championships. Norman Xiong (70.38) earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors and his stroke average is second-best among all DI freshmen.
Austin, Texas – University of Texas Golf Club (Par 71, 6,990 yards)
ARIZONA STATE (No. 5 seed) - The Sun Devils are led by All-Pac-12 first team performer Jared du Toit (70.08) and a pair of Pac-12 All-Freshman team performers Chun An Yu (71.38) and Alex Del Rey Gonzalez (72.20). Arizona State has posted six top-five finishes this season, including victories at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational and Thunderbird Invitational. The Sun Devils have captured seven NCAA regional titles.
West Lafayette, Ind. – Kampen Course/Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex (Par 72, 7,411 yards)
COLORADO (No. 6 seed) – Nine top-five finishes for the Buffaloes in 12 tournaments this season. Senior Ethan Freeman (72.00) and junior Yannik Paul (72.21) have six and three top-ten finishes, respectively.
Three individuals from the Pac-12 were selected to play in the NCAA Championships include UCLA’s Hidetoshi Yoshihara and Cole Madey at the Sammamish Regional, and California’s Collin Morikawa at the Stanford Regional

The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals, which will be held May 26-31, at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. (Northern Illinois, host).
Conference of Champions: The Pac-12 Conference has claimed 15 NCAA team titles and produced 18 NCAA individual champions. Since 2003, the Pac-12 has netted four team champions (2004 - California; 2007 - Stanford; 2008 – UCLA; 2016 - Oregon) and seven individual champions (2003 - Alejandro Canizares, ASU; 2005 - James Lepp, WASH; 2007 - Jamie Lovemark, USC; 2008 - Kevin Chappell, UCLA; 2013 - Max Homa, CAL; 2014 – Cameron Wilson, STAN; 2016 – Aaron Wise, ORE).
Hogan Award Finalists: Two of the three finalists for the Ben Hogan Award hail from the Pac-12 Conference – Oregon’s Wyndham Clark and Stanford’s Maverick McNealy. A Pac-12 golfer claimed the award each of the last five years. The last five winners were Patrick Cantlay (UCLA, 2012), Chris Williams (Washington, 2013), Patrick Rodgers (Stanford, 2014) and Jon Rahm (Arizona State, 2015 and 2016).
