Women's Tennis' Strandemo Named Athlete of the Week

BOULDER--Women's tennis' Kendra Strandemo receives Athlete of the Week honors after winning her match this weekend over in-state rival Colorado State, marking her seventh victory in her last eight matches. This was Strandemo's third straight win, and she improved to 11-3 at No. 3 singles for the season.

Strandemo, a junior from Encintas, Calif., helped the No. 67 nationally ranked Buffaloes to a 6-1 win in Fort Collins taking a three-set decision, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. She also teamed with senior Morgan Sall at No. 1 doubles to defeat Rams Dasha Zhurin and Emily Kirchem.

For the second consecutive year, Strandemo's performance throughout the season earned her nods from the Big 12, as she was named the No. 3 conference position champion on Monday. She achieved a 3-0 record outside of the conference and was 8-3 against Big 12 competition. Last year Strandemo won the conference position at No. 4 singles.
