Oregon State

Well now – former Oregon running back Thomas Tyner is going to play at Oregon State next season. Tyner took a medical retirement more than a year ago, and John Canzano has a whole lot more about the dude in this link (FWIW, since he medically retired, he cannot play football at Oregon; he had to transfer if he wanted to play again).

Arizona

Good news for Sean Miller, as Rawle Alkins will return to Arizona for his sophomore season, announcing Sunday that he is withdrawing from the NBA Draft.

UCLA

UCLA softball advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals by defeating Cal State Fullerton 9-1 in large thanks to Brianna Tautalafua’s grand slam. The Bruins are one of five Pac-12 teams moving on to the Supers.

Utah

The Pac-12 can’t get five teams into the Women’s College World Series, however, because Utah softball will play Washington in the Super Regionals in Seattle, marking the second straight season that the Utes have won a regional (The Salt Lake Tribune).

Stanford

Stanford baseball defeated Washington 6-5 in Mark Marquess’ final regular-season home game as head coach thanks to a walk-off RBI single from Jesse Kuet in the 10th inning. The Huskies blew a 5-0 lead in this one.

Oregon

Noooo… Oregon distance runner Edward Cheserek’s collegiate career is over due to a lower back strain that will keep him out of the NCAA West Regional meet. As a result, he cannot run at the NCAA Championships in June.

Arizona State

Arizona State women’s basketball guard Reili Richardson will play for the United States at the U19 World Cup, it was announced Sunday. Oregon’s Ruthy Hebard is also on the team.

California

Mike Lefkow of the Bay Area News Group reports that former South Carolina quarterback Brandon McIlwain is transferring to Cal to play football and baseball.

Colorado

Former Colorado basketball and NBA star Chauncey Billups is interviewing with the Atlanta Hawks to be their next GM, Chris Haynes of ESPN reports.

USC

USC women’s golf is seventh heading into the final round of stroke play of the NCAA Championships, and the top eight move on to match play.

Washington State

Coug fans, wonder what former Wazzu hooper DaVonté Lacy is up to? According to international basketball guru (and roundup friend) Gino Pilato, Lacy is going to play on the China Hoops Tour featuring Americans with D-League, NCAA D1 or international playing experience. This isn’t Lacy’s first trip to China to play ball, as he was a part of that Pac-12 All-Star team that played in China a couple of years back.

Washington

Chris Reichert of The Step Back explains why Markelle Fultz vs. Lonzo Ball is “the rivalry the NBA needs.” Perhaps this will add another chapter to the storied Celtics-Lakers rivalry? Of course, the teams have to pick (and keep) the two first…
