California

Rusty Simmons reports that Cal rugby player Robert Paylor started rehab this week in Colorado a month after he was paralyzed below the chest in an injury suffered during the national 15s championship win over Arkansas State.

Oregon

As our Karen Ramming notes, Oregon sprinter and Pac-12 Male Track Athlete of the Year Kyree King set school records in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay on the first day of the NCAA Track & Field Championships.

Stanford

Stanford’s Ruth Narode was named Pac-12 Women’s Rowing Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.

USC

Allison Swain has been named USC women’s tennis head coach, AD Lynn Swann announced Wednesday. Swain comes to Troy via Williams College, where she led the Ephs (rhymes with “chiefs,” shortened form of name of founder of Williams- Ephraim Williams; yes I had to look it up) to eight NCAA Division III team titles.

Washington State

The respected Jeff Nusser of CougCenter takes some time to notify us that former Washington State wide receiver Brandon Gibson announced his retirement from the NFL on Twitter Wednesday. He hadn’t hit the field since tearing his ACL in the 2015 preseason and played six years in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins.

Utah

Utah men’s basketball will travel to Barcelona and Paris in August, and Dirk Facer of the Deseret News has a little write-up about it.

Washington

Chris Forsberg of ESPN tells us that Markelle Fultz watched film with Brad Stevens to wrap up his two-day visit with the Boston Celtics. The former Husky is the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, and the Celtics have the top selection.

Colorado

Brian Howell features Colorado distance runner Erin Clark, who will compete in the 10,000m (Thursday night) and 5,000m (Saturday night) at the NCAA Track & Field Championships.

Oregon State

Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune writes about Tres Tinkle’s on-court return for Oregon State men’s basketball. Tinkle has been back on the court for about a month after breaking his wrist early last season.

Arizona

The Arizona Daily Star takes a look ahead at future Arizona men’s basketball rosters, as the Wildcats have some scholarships to hand out for the 2018 class.

UCLA

Our Yogi Roth went on a CBS Sports Radio show to say that UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen will have a very good 2017 season.

Arizona State

Going off Scout rankings, Chris Johnson of Sports Illustrated writes that Arizona State football is one of five programs off to a slow recruiting start for 2018. Still plenty of time though, and nobody is a bigger fan of Todd Graham than yours truly.
