Roundup: Dewayne Dedmon agrees to $14 million deal with Atlanta Hawks

USC

Former USC big man Dewayne Dedmon agreed to a two-year, $14 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, reports Shams Charania of The Vertical. Good to see this guy getting paid, he's much more than a serviceable center in the NBA and he's a great dude.

Stanford

Stanford softball coach Rachel Hanson has resigned, the school announced Tuesday. Hanson was the head coach at Stanford for three seasons, amassing a 49-104 record.

Arizona State

Jeff Metcalfe reports that Arizona State baseball is hiring Mike Cather as its new pitching coach. Catcher pitched for my Atlanta Braves from 1997-99.

California

Cal punter Steven Coutts was named to the Ray Guy Award watch list, it was announced Wednesday. Coutts is a graduate transfer from Louisiana (or Louisiana-Lafayette; I guess they’ve been shortening the name for a couple of years now?).

Utah

The Salt Lake Tribune lets us know that the Utah women’s and men’s athletics programs finished in the top 60 of the Capital One Cup standings, with the women’s teams finishing 40th and the men’s teams finishing 56th.

Oregon

Mike Miazga of VolleyballMag.com catches up with Oregon volleyball coach Matt Ulmer in this link to see how his transition has been from assistant to head coach in Eugene. Ulmare replaces Jim Moore, who retired in March.

Washington

Washington men’s basketball coach Mike Hopkins has fired strength and conditioning coach Daniel Shapiro, reports Percy Allen. Taking over in his place will be Todd Tuetken, who will also work with the indoor and beach volleyball programs. Appears to be just your run-of-the-mill staffing change when a new head coach comes to town.

Arizona

The Arizona Daily Star gives us a rundown of how former Arizona Wildcats are performing at NBA Summer League this month.

Colorado

Similarly, here’s an update on former Colorado basketball players at NBA Summer League courtesy of Pat Rooney. Derrick White, Josh Scott, Spencer Dinwiddie and Xavier Johnson are all in Las Vegas this week.
