Roundup: Josh Rosen named to Davey O'Brien Award watch list

UCLA

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen was named to the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award watch list on Wednesday. Rosen is sixth all-time at UCLA for passing yardage, total offense and completions in only two years. Also on the list from the Pac-12 are Washington's Jake Browning, USC's Sam Darnold and Washington State's Luke Falk.

Colorado

Benjamin Arthur of The Denver Post enlightens us on three Buffaloes named to preseason watch lists on Tuesday: Shay Fields and Devin Ross are on the Biletnikoff Award watch list, while Derek McCartney was named for the Wuerffel Trophy watch list.

USC

Arizona State

Lauren Neidigh of SwimSwam reports that Arizona State swimmers Andrew Porter and Reid Elliott have been granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA and will compete for the Sun Devils next season.

Oregon State

Louie Quintana has been named the head track and field and cross country coach at Oregon State, the school announced earlier in the week (The Register-Guard). Quintana spent the previous 16 years coaching at Arizona State.

Washington State

The Boston Celtics officially signed Aron Baynes on Wednesday. The former Coug played last year with the Detroit Pistons and won an NBA title with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014.

Oregon

Darren Carrington’s family says the former Oregon wide receiver is staying optimistic about playing somewhere else in 2017 despite being dismissed from the team last week, according to Andrew Greif. Carrington was arrested July 1 on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

California

Cal men’s basketball will play Wichita State in its first game at the Maui Invitational in November, it was announced Tuesday. Winner of Cal-Wichita State gets winner of Marquette-VCU in the semis.

Washington

Jack Follman of Pacific Takes believes that Washington has the best defensive line in the Pac-12, with Utah in second and USC at third.

Arizona
