Roundup: Jake Browning becoming more comfortable as a leader

Aug 1, 2017

Washington

Washington quarterback Jake Browning is becoming more comfortable as a leader for the Huskies, writes Adam Jude. He’s taken some flack for how he performed against USC and Alabama (both losses) but of course led the Dawgs to their best season in quite some time.

UCLA

Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times believes that Josh Rosen has been humbled and matured as he has dealt with injuries and losses, not to mention taking a backseat to Sam Darnold as the most hyped quarterback in Los Angeles.

USC

Scott Wolf notes that USC has a “new sense of confidence” as it begins fall camp. A good chunk of the depth chart is solidified already, a luxury the Trojans didn’t really have last season.

Oregon State

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald writes about Brandin Cooks’ touchdown celebrations, as Cooks said his pretending to pull an arrow off his back and firing it every time he reaches paydirt comes from a passage in the Bible. The former Oregon State receiver is off to a great start in training camp with the New England Patriots and gives Tom Brady a true deep threat.

Colorado

Colorado is looking to shore up its special teams play early in training camp, notes Brian Howell. This area hasn’t exactly been the Buffs’ strong suit over the last few seasons.

California

With the first fall practice in the books Monday, the Justin Wilcox era at Cal has officially started, writes Rusty Simmons. This is mainly a Q&A with Wilcox.

Arizona

Michael Lev of the Arizona Daily Star gives us his observations from Arizona football’s first practice of fall camp.

Arizona State

Doug Haller details the news and notes from Arizona State’s first practice at Camp Tontozona. The Sun Devils will be there all week.

Stanford

Utah

KSL.com gives us a 2017 Utah football outlook, saying that the Utes are looking to take that next step as a program (which I guess means winning the Pac-12 South).

Oregon

Check out Marcus Mariota’s interview with the NFL Network in this Yahoo Sports link as he talks about the upcoming season for the Tennessee Titans.

Washington State
