Stanford

Stanford men’s golfer Maverick McNealy announced that he is turning pro after the Walker Cup for the start of the 2017-18 PGA Tour season, and he explains his reasoning in this article for GoStanford.com.

USC

USC safety Isaiah Pola-Mao is out for the season, as he will undergo surgery to repair a shoulder he has dislocated multiple times (Reign of Troy).

Washington State

According to The Undefeated’s Marc Spears, the Golden State Warriors reportedly turned down a Klay Thompson-for-Kyrie-Irving trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Smart move, Dubs.

Washington

Real classy – some Boston Celtics fans burned Isaiah Thomas jerseys after he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Excuse the man for wanting a max deal after nearly averaging 30 a game and suiting up the day after his sister died in a car accident to help your team in the playoffs. Also, he was traded; wasn’t exactly his call to be moved.

Arizona State

Michael David Smith of ProFootball Talk reports that the Cleveland Browns are trying to trade Brock Osweiler. The former Sun Devil has started two preseason games for the Browns thus far, but it looks like DeShone Kizer will be the guy in Cleveland when the regular season starts (Kizer will start the third preseason game, the one in which the starters play the most out of all preseason contests).

Arizona

Arizona men’s basketball coach Sean Miller talks about his team’s experience during the Barcelona terror attack. Luckily, everyone was safe, but it took the team about three hours to account for everyone.

Oregon State

The Beavers kick off the 2017 campaign Saturday, and Ken Goe of the Oregonian/OregonLive explains why Oregon State needs to beat Colorado State to have a winning season.

California

Kurt Kragthorpe of The Salt Lake Tribune has a Cal football 2017 season outlook. The Trib is currently running a series of articles previewing each of Utah’s Pac-12 “rivals,” in their words.

Oregon

Andrew Greif examines the preseason expectations for Oregon football this year. A lot of people think the Ducks can get to a bowl game after a tough 4-8 2016 campaign.

UCLA

Bruce Feldman of Sports Illustrated believes that UCLA offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch could be in line for a head coaching job in the near future. USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin and Washington co-defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake also get a blurb from Feldman in this link.

Colorado

Brian Howell writes about the impact made by Colorado running backs coach Darian Hagan, the starting quarterback on the Buffs’ 1990 national championship team. He knows a thing or two about running, as his 2,007 career rushing yards are the most all-time for a Buff QB.

Utah

Dirk Facer looks at how high school teammates Tyler Huntley, Zack Moss and Demari Simpkins have made smooth transitions to the college level at Utah, as all three figure to be significant contributors for Kyle Whittingham in 2017. Hallendale High in the building.
