Roundup: Oregon State QB Jake Luton released from hospital
Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton has been released from the hospital after being removed from the field on a stretcher during the Beavers’ 52-23 loss at Washington State. He appeared to be knocked out after taking a hit to the head in the fourth quarter.

Ole Miss got out to a 16-7 lead early in the second quarter but did not score over the final 43 minutes of the game. In Washington’s 48-16 win over Fresno State, Dante Pettis tied two NCAA punt return touchdown records, as his eighth career punt return for a touchdown ties the NCAA record with Texas Tech’s Wes Welker and Oklahoma’s Antonio Perkins. Andrew Greif writes that Oregon’s defense made a statement in the blowout win over Wyoming Saturday. Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen, a guy with a ton of NFL hype, couldn’t do anything (64 yards passing) against the Ducks. The reward for a 3-0 non-conference record? Oregon is now ranked 24th in the AP Top 25 (The Oregonian/OregonLive).
Lynn Worthy writes that Utah’s offense showed it can move the ball through the air in the blowout win over San Jose State, as quarterback Tyler Huntley was 30-for-41 passing for 341 yards and four touchdowns.
Alright, now that the Buffs have their non-conference schedule taken care of (3-0, as expected), Colorado wants revenge against Washington Saturday night at Folsom Field (BuffZone.com). You don’t need to remind the folks in Boulder about Washington’s 41-10 win over the Buffs in last year’s Pac-12 Football Championship Game.
San Diego State “turned out the lights” on Stanford Saturday night in a 20-17 win over the Cardinal, notes Ivan Carter (Bay Area News Group). Literally – there was a 15-minute delay due to lights going out at San Diego Stadium before the Cardinal defense gave up San Diego State’s go-ahead touchdown pass in the final minute.
