Kyle Bonagura reports that the Rose Bowl field has been named Spieker Field thanks to a $10 million donation from UCLA alum Tod Spieker and his family. So the official title will be Spieker Field at the Rose Bowl for at least the next 25 years.

In his Pac-12 notebook, Kurt Kragthorpe writes that Cal’s defense will be tested by USC on Saturday in Berkeley. The Golden Bears have looked so much better on that side of the ball under Justin Wilcox, but USC is no North Carolina, Weber State or Ole Miss.
The Pac-12 men’s basketball schedule was released Tuesday, and Gary Parrish of CBS Sports opines that Arizona has a favorable conference schedule by not having to make the trip to Los Angeles to face USC and UCLA on the road.
