Andrew Joseph of For the Win writes that Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate is the best player in the country nobody is talking about. He was recently named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth straight week – the first player to ever do that.

Utah

University of Utah President David Pershing issued a statement regarding the shooting on campus Monday night. ChenWei Guo, a student at Utah, was shot to death in a carjacking on campus, and class has been cancelled for Tuesday.

UCLA

Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times reports that UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen did not practice Monday, and head coach Jim Mora is unsure of his availability for Friday’s game at Utah (he didn’t rule him out).

Washington State

Washington State defensive lineman Hercules Mata’afa was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, it was announced Monday. Other semifinalists from the Pac-12 are Stanford’s Harrison Phillips and Washington’s Vita Vea.

Stanford

Stanford running back Bryce Love was named a Maxwell Award semifinalist, it was announced Monday. Other semifinalists from the Pac-12 are Arizona’s Khalil Tate, Oregon’s Royce Freeman and USC’s Sam Darnold.

Oregon State

Oregon State men’s basketball freshman Alfred Hollins was arrested Sunday on one charge of giving false information to a police officer, reports Danny Moran. Hollins has since been released and no charges are pending.

Oregon

John Canzano spends this article writing about Willie Taggart and the Florida job. Recently, Taggart has been mentioned as a guy who would be a good fit for the recently-opened Florida job, and Taggart has said he has not been contacted by any school and is committed to Oregon.

USC

Very good read on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster from Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, covering the former Trojans’ comedic antics with the Steelers (have you seen his bike?) and his background story.

California

The 2017-18 version of ThisIsCalBasketball.com is up, and check out the opening post by Cal women’s basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb entitled “New Beginnings.” Always a good website to purvey.

Arizona State

Brittany Bowyer of ArizonaSports.com features former Arizona State quarterback Fran Urban, who played for the Sun Devils in the 1950’s.
