Nov 7, 2017

• Pac-12 women’s soccer wrapped up the 2017 regular season last week and seven teams earned berths into the 2017 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship with six teams selected as the host school. The Pac-12 finished with five teams ranked in the top-25 RPI, which is the second-most teams of any conference.

• STANFORD earned a No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight year and is joined in the field by No. 2-seeded UCLA, No. 3-seeded USC, ARIZONA, COLORADO, CALIFORNIA and WASHINGTON STATE. A potential Pac-12 clash come between the Cardinal and the Wildcats in the round of 16.

• The Pac-12 Conference announced today the women’s soccer All-Pac-12 honors for the 2017 season, as determined by a polling of the Conference coaches. STANFORD’s Catarina Macario was voted Pac-12 Forward of the Year and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Andi Sullivan was named Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year, and Tierna Davidson tabbed Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. California’s Emily Boyd was voted Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year, and for the eighth time in the last 10 years, Stanford head coach Paul Ratcliffe was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. The All-Pac-12 and All-Freshman teams were also announced.

• The Pac-12 currently holds an all-time record of 184-121-27 (.595) in the NCAA Women’s College Cup, with four national championships and five second-place finishes. It has the third-most conference representatives in the field with seven teams and posted back-to-back years with three teams seeded in the top four.

• The NCAA Tournament first round starts on Friday, Nov. 10 with No. 1 overall seed Stanford (18-1-0, 11-0-0) hosting WAC Champion Utah Valley. No. 2 seed UCLA (15-2-2, 8-2-1) hosts Mountain West Champion San Diego State (12-7-2), and Arizona (10-4-4, 7-2-2) hosts the TCU Horned Frogs (12-6-3).

• On Saturday, Nov. 11, Defending NCAA Champion USC (14-3-1, 8-2-1) hosts Big Sky Conference champion Eastern Washington (16-5-1) and Washington State (9-7-3, 4-6-1) travel across the country to face Central Florida (13-1-3). California (13-5-1, 6-4-1) hosts WCC Champion Santa Clara (13-6-1), which is a rematch from earlier this season with the Bears coming out on top, 2-1, on Aug. 20.

• Stanford captured its third-straight Pac-12 crown with an undefeated league record 11-0-0 for the program’s 12th all-time Conference title. The Cardinal (18-1-0) are the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the team’s 27th postseason appearance. The Cardinal enters the postseason with the country’s best record and best offense, averaging 3.68 goals per game on 25 shots, both of which lead the nation. The squad is on a 16-game win streak, dating back to Aug. 25, and look to continue that momentum into the tournament, which starts this week.

• UCLA defeated USC, 3-2, in overtime last week in a battle for second place in the Conference standings resulting in tie between the two teams, both finishing with a 8-2-1 league record. The No. 2 seed Bruins hold a 57-16-5 all-time NCAA Tournament record and have advanced to at least the round of 16 in four of the last five seasons. Defending National Champion USC is a No. 3 seed and has posted a 20-13-2 all-time record in the postseason with two NCAA title runs, two third-round appearances and six second-round finishes in 16 bids

• Arizona was the surprise competitor this year, finishing fourth in the Conference with a 7-2-2 record, posting 14-3-1 overall as the Wildcats were selected to finish ninth in the Pac-12 coaches preseason poll.
