UCLA

Arash Markazi of ESPN reports that UCLA men’s basketball players were released on bail Wednesday morning in Hangzhou, China, after reportedly being arrested Tuesday. Steve Alford said that the student-athletes involved will not play against Georgia Tech.

Washington

Washington rose to No. 9 in the latest College Football Playoff Top 25, up three spots from last week’s initial ranking of 12. Certainly far from a lock, but it’s looking better for the Pac-12 and the College Football Playoff. USC jumped up six spots to No. 11, so if USC and U-Dub win out ‘til a Pac-12 Football Championship Game, the conference championship game could potentially feature two top-seven teams or something like that.

USC

Following up on the USC point, Zach Helfand believes that the latest CFP rankings give USC a potential path to the playoff (a lot still needs to go right). The Trojans are the No. 2 two-loss team in the country.

Arizona

Former Arizona men’s basketball assistant coach Book Richardson has been indicted in the FBI investigation into bribery and corruption in college basketball.

Arizona State

Jeremy Cluff of The Arizona Republic spends this article discussing the attendance at Arizona State football games. The announced attendance for the Colorado game was 44,553 for a stadium that seats 56,232, but there seemed to be plenty more empty seats than that.

Stanford

Stanford women’s soccer cleaned up the Pac-12 all-conference awards, with Paul Ratcliffe being named Pac-12 Coach of the Year, Catarina Macario being named Forward and Freshman of the Year, Andi Sullivan winning Midfielder of the Year and Tierna Davidson winning Defender of the Year. The Cardinal is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and opens postseason play against Utah Valley Saturday night.

Oregon State

Danny Moran features former Oregon State quarterback Marcus McMaryion, who is currently leading Fresno State to a 6-3 record thanks to his 1,468 passing yards, seven touchdowns and one interception.

Colorado

Colorado wide receiver Shay Fields is getting ready for his last home game at Folsom Field, putting the cap on a successful career (BuffZone.com). Fields enters the Buffs’ home finale against USC third in school history in career receptions, second in career receiving yards and third in career touchdown receptions (he has a chance to surpass Nelson Spruce for first).

Utah

Scott D. Pierce of The Salt Lake Tribune is more than a little peeved that FOX Sports 1 aired the ending of a truck race over the beginning of the Utah-UCLA football game Friday night, and I’m sure he’s not alone around these parts. He also takes a look at other TV scheduling conflicts concerning college football.

Oregon

Andrew Greif writes that Oregon football is covering the basics during its bye week. The Ducks need one more win to achieve bowl eligibility and close out the regular season with Arizona and Oregon State.

Washington State

Theo Lawson features Washington State linebacker-turned-student-assistant Peyton Pelluer, who has been coaching up the inside linebackers after suffering a season-ending foot injury.

California

Jon Wilner grades Cal’s win against Oregon State, giving the Bears a B for their 37-23 triumph over the Beavs.
