Roundup: Oregon State gets its man in Jonathan Smith

Oregon State named Jonathan Smith its new head football coach on Wednesday. Smith, the first Beaver grad to lead the football program, spent the last four years at Washington as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

According to reports, Herm Edwards is in line to become the next football coach at Arizona State. The deal is still being finalized according to the ESPN report linked here. Former Texas head coach Mack Brown also expressed interest in the Arizona State job recently.

Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated reports that Oregon has offered Willie Taggart a new contract that would pay a little more than $20 million over five years.
