11 Pac-12 volleyball players named AVCA All-Americans

KANSAS CITY - Eleven Pac-12 women’s volleyball players were named All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, which was announced today. It marks the ninth time in 12 seasons the Conference has had at least 10 All-Americans.

STANFORD was the most represented with five players honored. Sophomores Jenna Gray, Kathryn Plummer and Morgan Hentz were named to the first team. Teammates Audiranna Fitzmorris, also a sophomore, and senior Merete Lutz were voted to the second team. Lutz earns All-America nods for the third time in her career.

UTAH’s Adora Anae closes out her career with her second All-American nod, earning a spot on the first team, while USC’s Khalia Lanier earns her first All-America recogntion. UCLA’s Madeleine Gates and COLORADO’s Alexa Smith were second team honorees. Fellow Trojan Brittany Abercrombie and WASHINGTON’s Carly DeHoog were on the third team.

Another 10 from the Conference received honorable mention status: OREGON’s Taylor Agost, Stanford’s Tami Alade, Colorado’s Brynna Deluzio, Utah’s Tawnee Luafalemana and Berkeley Oblad, OREGON STATE’s Mary-Kate Marshall, UCLA’s Zana Muno and Sarah Sponcil, and UW’s Tia Scambray,

Also announced today was the Senior CLASS All-America team and OSU’s Marshall earned a spot on the second team, also representing the lone honoree from the Pac-12.

Defending NCAA Champion and third-seeded Stanford is headed to the national semifinal to face second-seeded Florida on Thursday, Dec. 14, at Spring Center in Kansas City. It is looking to earn a spot in the national championship match where it could meet top-seeded Penn State or fifth-seeded Nebraska on Saturday, Dec. 16.
