Roundup: All-American Stanford women's volleyball resumes repeat bid in semis

Stanford

Heading into its national semifinal matchup with Florida Thursday night (6 p.m. PT, ESPN), three Stanford volleyball players were named first team All-Americans – Jenna Gray, Morgan Hentz and Kathryn Plummer. Earning second team All-America status were Audrianna Fitzmorris and Merete Lutz, while Tami Alada was named All-America honorable mention. Basically, the team’s entire starting lineup is made up of All-Americans. Nice.

Washington State

Washington State deputy athletic director Mike Marlow has been named the new AD at Northern Arizona, reports Stefanie Loh of The Seattle Times.

USC

David Wharton of the Los Angeles Times lets us know that USC quarterbacks coach Tyson Helton has been named the offensive coordinator at Tennessee as the Trojans hit the practice field to prepare for the Cotton Bowl.

Utah

It has been 15 years since Utah named Urban Meyer its head football coach, so Jon Wilner looks at the impact the Urban Meyer era had on the trajectory of Utah football. Would the Pac-12 have added Utah if it wasn’t for its success on the gridiron in that time and the years after leading up to 2011?

The Arizona Board of Regents approved Herm Edwards’ contract with Arizona State, Anne Ryman of The Arizona Republic reports. 

Washington

Former Washington wide receiver Isaiah Renfro appeared on The Today Show with Megyn Kelly on Wednesday to talk about battling anxiety and depression. On the show, Renfro (now Isaiah Woods) said that he attempted suicide twice but is thankfully much happier now.

Oregon

In a huge non-conference matchup, No. 9 Oregon women’s basketball lost at No. 5 Mississippi State 90-79 Wednesday night in Starkville. The Ducks’ two losses this season have both come against No. 5 ranked teams on the road (Louisville being the other).

Arizona

CBS Sports and the USBWA have named Arizona men’s basketball center DeAndre Ayton its National Freshman of the Week. Ayton went for a career-high 29 points to go along with 18 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Alabama.

UCLA

Midfielder Jessie Fleming was nominated for the Honda Award in women's soccer on Wednesday. The Canadian Olympian helped guide the Bruins to the College Cup final this past season, including scoring a goal in the national championship match.

Oregon State
