Arizona State

Ricky O’Donnell of SB Nation writes that Arizona State is the college basketball version of the Houston Rockets. Three-pointers and layups, baby; the Sun Devils had one two-point shot come from out of the paint in Sunday’s win over Vanderbilt. Future of basketball right there.

Washington State

Washington State football coach Mike Leach signed a five-year extension worth $20 million, it was announced Monday (Associated Press). Well-earned extension for Leach.

Oregon

Left out of the roundup on Monday because of the Sabrina Ionescu triple-double, Oregon has signed defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt through the 2021 season for $1.7 million per year. Steep price but a great signing for the Ducks.

Arizona

Arizona men’s basketball junior Allonzo Trier left Monday night’s game with a knee injury. Trier had 15 points before leaving the game, an 83-53 win over North Dakota State.

Stanford

No. 18 Stanford women’s basketball was upset by Western Illinois Monday night, dropping a 71-64 contest to the Leathernecks for the first win against a ranked team in program history for Western Illinois. Hope you were able to catch the scintillating radio call on GoStanford.com.

USC

As one would expect after tying the Pac-12 record with 19 assists against UCSB on Sunday, USC guard Jordan McLaughlin was named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Colorado

In what is starting to become a recurring theme, Colorado’s Annika Jank was named Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week after going for 29 points against Dartmouth, the most a Buff frosh has scored since 2000.

Washington

Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports that Washington defensive lineman Vita Vea won’t announce his NFL Draft intentions until after the Fiesta Bowl. The fourth-year junior is expected to declare for the draft and projected as a mid-to-late first-round draft pick, but Chris Petersen asks his underclassmen to not declare before the bowl game.

California

From last week – Jon Wilner caught up with Cal chancellor Carol Christ to discuss all things Cal athletics.

Oregon State

With the early signing period for college football quickly approaching, Andrew Nemec of The Oregonian/OregonLive looks at who is expected to sign early with Oregon State.

Utah

Scott D. Pierce of The Salt Lake Tribune tells us why we should watch Utah’s Heart of Dallas Bowl game against West Virginia (Dec. 26, 11:30 a.m. MT/10:30 a.m. PT, ESPN).

UCLA

Right-handed pitcher Jon Olsen was named to the Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-American third team. Olsen finished a perfect 6-0 in Pac-12 play last season. The Bruins begin their season on Feb. 16 against Portland.
