Pac-12 Women's Basketball opens New Year with six teams in AP Poll

• Six Pac-12 teams are ranked in this week’s Associated Press top 25. It is the second time during the regular season half of Pac-12 teams are ranked and the third time overall (including the preseason poll). OREGON leads the way at No. 9, also earning the same ranking in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll.

• This week’s televised matchups include No. 14/14 UCLA hosting the Ducks and No. 16/16 OREGON STATE, while No. 25 ARIZONA STATE hosts a couple of tough matchups in No. 23 CALIFORNIA and No. 24 STANFORD. ASU makes its first appearance in the AP top 25 since the preseason poll and the Cardinal are back in after falling out last week, ending a streak of 17 years.

• Nearly every game this week will be televised, including every Friday clash on Pac-12 Networks. Three more Pac-12 Networks broadcasts are slated for Sunday, while the Sun Devils and Cardinal tilt will be televised on ESPN2. ASU is one of two league teams undefeated at home this season, going 7-0 on its floor so far.

• OSU is riding an eight-game win streak, the longest active streak in the Conference. The Beavs are having a strong season on both sides of the ball, leading the nation in 3-point shooting (42.7), while also limiting opponents to just 31.2 shooting from the floor, second-lowest in the nation.

• Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu broke the NCAA’s triple-double record with the eighth of her career in just 48 career games. The sophomore leads the nation with four this season. She was voted the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the fifth time.

• Duck teammate Satou Sabally was tabbed the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, helping UO to a 2-0 league start.

• Stanford’s Brittany McPhee was named the ESPNW Player of the Week after averaging 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game over the LA schools, to lead the Cardinal to a 2-0 start. It was McPhee’s second and third games back in action after missing play due to an injury.

• UCLA’s Jordin Canada is on pace to become the first player in Conference history to get 1,700 points and 700 assists. She is one of just four in league history to record 1,700 points and 600 assists. The All-American candidate ranks fifth all-time in assists in Pac-12 history.
