Stanford

Not a bad way to end your weekend sports watching – his team trailing by two with 1.7 seconds left, Daejon Davis hit a 50-foot buzzer beater to give Stanford a 77-76 win over USC on Sunday night (SB Nation). Shades of 2003 Nick Robinson against Arizona, except Stanford was tied with the Wildcats at the time of that shot, and these aren’t top-10 teams. Still, fantastic finish and that loss to Cal is forgiven with the sweep of the LA schools.

USC

While the USC men lost a heartbreaker, the USC women’s basketball team erased a 17-point deficit to defeat Oregon State 65-61 for its first conference victory of the season.

California

No full story here, but great news from the weekend – Cal volleyball player Savannah Rennie announced she is lymphoma-free on her Instagram. Rennie was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin post-transplant lymphoma this past fall after developing an extremely rare complication following her liver transplant in 2016.

Arizona State

Arizona State women’s basketball defeated Stanford 73-66 to improve to 4-0 in Pac-12 play. The Sun Devils have now swept the Mountain schools on the road and Bay schools at home.

Oregon State

Seth Berger’s big night helped Oregon State men’s basketball take down Oregon Friday night in Corvallis, recaps Danny Moran. Berger, a grad transfer from UMass, scored a Beavers career-high 12 points in the Beavs’ 76-64 win over the Ducks.

Washington

Washington men’s basketball defeated rival Washington State 70-65 in Pullman on Saturday, getting a big bucket late from David Crisp to give the Huskies the lead for good.

Colorado

Home wins over ranked Arizona and Arizona State squads in tow, Colorado men’s basketball now needs to do it on the road, writes Pat Rooney.

Utah

Read Kurt Kragthorpe’s column for Utah men’s basketball’s 80-77 loss to Arizona State.

UCLA

UCLA women's gymnastics defeated Ohio State in its season opener on Saturday.

Arizona

Arizona football’s Colin Schooler and Kylan Wilborn were named to the FWAA Freshman All-America Team, Michael Lev notes.

Washington State

From last week – Theo Lawson reports that Alex Grinch is expected to become the co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State. It had been rumored for a while that he’d go to Columbus as the 10th assistant.

Oregon

The New York Times documents Marcus Mariota’s touchdown pass to himself to help spur an 18-point comeback to lead the Tennessee Titans to a 22-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the wild card round of the NFL playoffs.
