Washington State

For those of you around the Palouse, Washington State will hold a candlelight vigil to mourn Tyler Hilinski Friday night at 7 p.m. in front of the Cougar statute. CougCenter has more details in the link.

Colorado

Colorado and Washington State held a moment of silence to remember deceased Colorado lacrosse player Julia Sarcona and Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski at the Buffs-Cougs men’s basketball game Thursday night (Colorado won 82-73).

Stanford

The MLS SuperDraft is underway Friday, and former Stanford center back Tomas Hilliard-Arce was taken second overall by the Los Angeles Galaxy. All he did was help the Cardinal win three straight national championships.

Utah

Utah wide receiver Raelon Singleton is leaving the team due to family concerns, Lynn Worthy reports. Singleton has one year of eligibility left.

Oregon State

Thrilling game at Gill Thursday night, as Oregon State defeated UCLA in a “must-win” game, writes Danny Moran. Tres Tinkle, Stephen Thompson Jr. and Drew Eubanks are a pretty nice big three to have, and they all made winning plays down the stretch.

USC

Here are the highlights from USC men’s basketball’s 75-70 win over Oregon in Eugene, marking the first time the Trojans have beaten the Ducks on the road since 2009.

Oregon

Ken Goe of The Oregonian opines that the Ducks wilted against USC, furthering their plunge to 2-4 in the Pac-12 standings.

California

Rusty Simmons features Cal women’s basketball guard Asha Thomas. Don’t look past her 5-4 frame; she’s a hooper. The Golden Bears are on the road to take on the Bruins and Trojans this weekend.

Arizona

Michael Lev explains to us why the timing was right for Kevin Sumlin to become the next Arizona football coach. I love this hire (and was actually calling for Arizona State to hire Sumlin, but hey, it all works out).

UCLA

The AFC and NFC Championship games are on Sunday, and former UCLA tight end Marcedes Lewis writes this piece for The Players’ Tribune about his confidence in his Jacksonville Jaguars being able to beat anyone they face (the Jags play the Pats for a spot in the Super Bowl).

Washington

The Seattle Times columnist Larry Stone whips up this piece on Vita Vea preparing to become an NFL player.
