Roundup: Washington State introduces new AD

Washington State

It became official on Monday – Washington State has named Patrick Chun its new Director of Athletics. Chun is the first Asian-American AD to lead a Power 5 school and was last the AD at Florida Atlantic for more than five years.

Oregon

It had been rumored for a couple of days, but also official now is Oregon hiring Jim Mastro as its running backs coach (The Oregonian/OregonLive on the link). Mastro had spent the last six seasons at Washington State.

Washington

Speaking of the Oregon coaching staff, Adam Jude reports (citing other reports) that former Washington linebacker Cort Dennison will join Oregon as an assistant coach as well. He will reportedly be the outside linebackers coach.

Arizona

Tom Schad of USA TODAY Sports reports that Rich Rodriguez’s former administrative assistant has filed a second lawsuit for $8.5 million against Rodriguez, his wife and the university. Melissa Wilhelmsen, the former assistant in question, had originally filed a $7.5 million lawsuit against Rodriguez.

USC

With Sam Darnold off to the NFL Draft, there is a spot to be filled under center for USC, and blind long snapper Jake Olson wants to be a part of the USC quarterback competition. Check out this video to see him sling some tight spirals (Yahoo Sports on the link).

California

Former Cal basketball star Jason Kidd was fired by the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday after spending three and a half years as the team’s head coach.

UCLA

Sweet – five-star high school basketball recruit Moses Brown has committed to UCLA, choosing the Bruins over Florida State and Maryland (ESPN). Brown is a 7-foot-1 center from New York and is ranked as the No. 18 overall recruit according to ESPN.

Utah

Lynn Worthy ponders whether or not Utah can have an elite Pac-12 men’s basketball program or if it will continue to be in the middle of the pack.

Arizona State

Arizona State ice hockey is hosting its final home series of the season against Boston Friday and Saturday night. Friday night’s game will be played at Gila River Arena, home of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes.

Colorado

Pat Rooney features Colorado men’s basketball freshman Tyler Bey, who he says is just starting to realize his potential after notching his first double-double by going for 14 points and 11 boards against Washington.

Oregon State

Oregon State women’s basketball moved up to 17th in the latest AP Top 25 poll, up one spot from 18 (The Oregonian/OregonLive). Meanwhile, rival Oregon stayed put at No. 7.

Stanford
