UCLA

UCLA women’s basketball held off USC to the tune of an 84-70 victory Sunday Monday night at Galen Center, moving the Bruins into a tie for first in the Pac-12 alongside Oregon and Stanford (Pac-12 Networks highlights).

Stanford

Stanford women’s basketball star Brittany McPhee was named espnW national player of the week (in addition to Pac-12 Player of the Week) for her stellar performances against the Oregon schools – a double-double in Corvallis and a 33-spot in Eugene. Graham Hays has the writeup.

Arizona State

Lacrosse season begins this week, and Nick Sheehy of The State Press whips up this article on the inaugural season of Arizona State women’s lacrosse.

USC

ASU’s addition of women’s lacrosse gave the Pac-12 six lacrosse-playing schools, meaning the Pac-12 could sponsor lacrosse. So heading into the first year of Pac-12-sponsored lacrosse, USC is picked to win the Pac-12 in the inaugural preseason poll.

Oregon State

Oregon State athletics communications lets us know that Oregon State baseball is ranked No. 2 in all six preseason polls. The Beavers appear to be well-positioned for a return trip to Omaha.

Washington

Washington men’s basketball junior Noah Dickerson was named both Pac-12 and NCAA National Player of the Week after averaging 23.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in wins over a couple of ranked squads from the state of Arizona (GoHuskies.com).

Arizona

Arizona men’s basketball standouts Allonzo Trier and Deandre Ayton were named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 list on Monday (AZ Desert Swarm). Also from the Pac-12 on this list is Arizona State’s Tra Holder.

Oregon

On the women’s side, Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu is one of 20 finalists for the Wooden Award. As GoDucks.com points out, Ionescu is the only sophomore on the list.

California

Former Cal men’s basketball player Ned Averbuck is the recipient of the 2017-18 Pete Newell Career Achievement Award, the school announced Tuesday morning. Averbuck played on the Golden Bears’ Final Four teams in 1959 and 1960.

Colorado

Pat Rooney features Colorado men’s basketball forward Lucas Siewert, who has gone for back-to-back double-digit scoring games for the first time in his career.

Washington State

Here’s a letter from Washington State AD Patrick Chun, who started on the job Monday.

Utah
