2018 National Signing Day: Mater Dei's Amon-Ra St. Brown joins JT Daniels at USC

Feb 7, 2018

Amon-Ra St. Brown is certainly not your run-of-the-mill wide receiver. Case in point: He's trilingual (French, German and English) and has traveled the globe, not to mention possessing the kind of talent every college coach wants on their team.

It's no wonder that he's considered by some talent evaluators to be the nation's top wide receiver. 247Sports ranks him No. 11 overall in the 2018 class. He's the highest-ranked signee in the Pac-12 so far.

"I've never met a nicer gentleman off the field and a more fiercer competitor on the field," USC head coach Clay Helton said. "He's a purely strong athlete. He brings big play ability all the time."

On Wednesday, St. Brown and his Mater Dei High teammate, JT Daniels, both signed Letters of Intent with USC, giving the Trojans a significant boost to an already stacked class.

To say St. Brown's brand is on the rise might be an understatement. Just this week, he was dubbed "the most interesting man in the 2018 recruiting class" by Bleacher Report. His social media following is massive — nearly 30,000 followers on Instagram alone. He also appeared on HBO's 'Real Sports' show last week. Pretty crazy stuff for a high school senior.

St. Brown's two older brothers, Equanimeous and Osiris, have a fair amount of football street cred, too. Equanimeous recently left Notre Dame early for the 2018 NFL Draft and Osiris will be a redshirt freshman at Stanford this fall.

Daniels, at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, was the Gatorade National Player of the Year and is the nation's No. 2 quarterback according to 247Sports. He's skipping his senior year to enroll early at USC after leading Mater Dei to a 15-0 mark while throwing for 4,123 yards, 52 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Needless to say, it's worth keeping an eye on this 1-2 punch this fall.
