Pac-12 announces Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week

CALIFORNIA’S ABBEY WEITZEIL NAMED WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
UCLA’S ELOISE BELANGER TABBED WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK

SAN FRANCISCO - The Conference office announced today that Abbey Weitzeil of CALIFORNIA was named Pac-12 Women's Swimmer of the Week and UCLA’s Eloise Belanger was voted Pac-12 Women’s Diver of the Week.

WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Abbey Weitzeil, SO, California (Saugus, Calif.)
Weitzeil set a Cal dual-meet record and a Stanford-pool record in the 50-yard freestyle, winning with a time of 22.04 in a dual meet at Stanford. She also helped the Golden Bears’ 200-yard freestyle relay to a Cal-dual meet and Stanford-pool record, winning in 1:28.36. Her time of 48.78 in the 100-yard freestyle was her fastest in a dual meet this season.

WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Eloise Belanger, JR, UCLA (Montreal, QC, Canada)
The junior notched wins on both the 1-meter (306.23) and 3-meter (343.35), to help the Bruins snap an 11-meet losing streak to the Trojans, tying USC, 150-150. Her personal-best 3-meter score included a 205B that netted the Canadian a score of 72.00. When the teams met a day later for a platform competition, Belanger stood out again with a five-dive score of 262.88 to secure a sweep of all three events.

The Pac-12 Women’s Swimming and Diving/Men’s Diving and Championships (Feb. 21-24) and the Pac-12 Men’s Swimming Championships (Feb. 28-Mar. 3) will be held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
