Federal Way, Wash. - CALIFORNIA took the lead after day two of competition at the Pac-12 Men’s Swimming Championships, held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. Cal took podium spots in all five events of the day, including three Pac-12 titles and have been victorious in all three relay events.

CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES

500-yard Freestyle
•    Stanford’s Grant Shoults defended his 2017 Pac-12 title by winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:13.70. It was a close race going into the final 100 yards, as Shoults pulled away in the final turn to take a commanding lead.
•    Sean Grieshop placed second for California clocking in at 4:14.44.
•    Stanford's Liam Egan finished third with a time of 4:16.36 to edge out fourth place by five tenths of a second.
•    The pool was stacked with talent as all eight swimmers’ times were enough for a NCAA B standard.

200-yard Individual Medley
•    Stanford responded again as Abrahm DeVine took the 200-yard individual medley title with a time of 1:41.17, an NCAA A
qualifying time.
•    Golden Bears’ junior Andrew Seliskar (1:41.85) and senior Mathew Josa (1:42.85) reached the podium finishing second and third, respectively. Seliskar swam fast enough to earn an A cut and Josa picked up a B cut.

50-yard Freestyle
•    California senior Justin Lynch won his first individual Pac-12 title, topping the 50-yard free with an NCAA A qualifying time of 19 seconds flat.
•    Senior Santo Condorelli collected some hardware for USC placing second with a time of 19:05, which is also fast enough for an NCAA A cut.
•    Pawel Sendyk rounded out third place for California with a time of 19.09

200-yard Freestyle Relay
•    California continued its relay dominance by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay, winning all three relays thus far in the 2018 Pac-12 Championships. The team of Lynch, Sendyk, Ryan Hoffer and Michael Jensen clocked in at 1:15.78.
•    USC’s team of Condorelli, Dylan Carter, Ralf Tribuntsov, and Kyle Grissom, took second with a time of 1:16.55.
•    Stanford rounded out the podium in a time of 1:16.69 with Alberto Mestre, Brad Zdroik, Sam Perry, and Andrew Liang.
•    All three times were NCAA A standards.

Competition resumes on Friday at 11 a.m. PT with the preliminary rounds of the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke. The finals session starts with a presentation of the Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, USC’s Pawel Furtek at 5:50 p.m. PT followed with the 400 IM final at 6 p.m. that will be streamed live on Pac-12.com and Pac-12 Now.

DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP

At the Pac-12 Men’s Diving Championship last weekend, USC had four top-three finishes led by Henry Fusaro who won the 3-meter event with a score of 434.80 and finished second in the 1-meter with 353.95. Dashiell Enos (USC) placed second in the 3-meter event with a score of 420.25 and the Platform scoring 397.75 points. Youssef Selim (Arizona State) won the 1-meter event (382.90) and came in third on the Platform (386.40) to earn Pac-12 Diver of the Meet. Theodore Miclau (Stanford) was the plat-form champion (398.35).
