February Golfers of the Month

SAN FRANCISCO - Justin Suh of USC and Lilia Vu of UCLA have been named the Pac-12 Men’s and Women’s Golfers for the Month for February, the Pac-12 announced today.
 
The duo earn back-to-back honors after pulling down November Golfer of the Month honors at the end of the fall season. Both are currently ranked No. 1 by GolfStat with Suh posting an adjusted score average of 68.57, while Vu is at 69.48.
 
Suh, a junior from San Jose, Calif., opened February by winning his third event of the season at the talent-laden Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 1-3) with a 13-under 203 (69-66-68), and then tied for fourth at the 36-hole Prestige at PGA West (Feb. 20-21) at 2-under 140 (71-69). He had a stroke average of 68.6 for the month, posting four of his five February rounds in the 60s. Also in February, Suh, was named No. 1 on the watch lists for the Haskin Award and the Arnold Palmer Cup team. 
 
The Golfweek men’s Top 25 team rankings include No. 12 CALIFORNIA, No. 13 STANFORD, No. 17 USC, No. 18 UCLA and No. 25 ARIZONA STATE.

Vu, a junior from Fountain Valley, Calif., had a strong month, finishing tied for first and first in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge and Bruin Wave Invitational respectively. Vu overcame an extremely talented field to win the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (Feb. 11-13) in Palos Verdes, Calif., shooting a final-round 68 of bogey-free golf to come from behind and finish with a share of first place at 1-under. For the tournament, Vu shot rounds of 75-69-68 for a 1-under total of-212. Vu’s come-from-behind efforts also helped lead UCLA to their fourth-consecutive team win. 

 

At the Bruin Wave Invitational (Feb. 26-27) in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Vu topped the field by shooting 1-under for a total score of 215 (69-71-75). Vu was also the only player under par for the tournament as she continued adding to her resume with her third straight victory and seventh of her career which tied the school record.
 
The Bruins hold down the No.2 spot in the Golfweek women’s Top 25 team rankings. STANFORD is No 5, followed by No. 9 USC, No. 10 ARIZONA STATE, No. 15 WASHINGTON, and No. 18 COLORADO.
