Pac-12 announces Tennis Players of the Week

Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week: Maxime Cressy, Jr., UCLA (Hermosa Beach, Calif.)

• Cressy starred in No. 4 UCLA’s first match of the 2018 season in which the Bruins defeated rival No. 11 USC, 4-2, on the road. He clinched the doubles point with teammate Bryce Pereira, coming up with a 7-5 win on the No. 3 court while the top-court teams were tied. The 1-0 lead proved pivotal, as the Bruins clung to a 3-2 lead down the stretch.

•The junior then upset USC’s No. 112 ranked Jack Jaede on Court 5 (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) to secure the 4-2 non-conference victory for UCLA. 

• Earns his first Pac-12 Tennis Player of the Week honor and the Bruins’ 36th all-time weekly award.

Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week: Lauryn John-Baptiste, Fr., Arizona State (London, England)
 
• John-Baptiste helped the Sun Devils sweep San Diego State and UC Santa Barbara both by a 4-0 decision last weekend. 
 
• As a true freshman, John-Baptiste is ranked No. 84 nationally and continued her stellar run on the No. 1 Court improving her record to 4-0 at home. She collected both wins in straight sets, defeating San Diego State (6-3, 6-1) and Santa Barbra (6-2, 6-3). 
 
• Her unbeaten doubles run with teammate Ilze Hattingh continues as the two newcomers are now 9-0 in dual match play and have been pivotal in the Devils' doubles success this season. The duo made easy work of the competition, only giving up one point over the weekend, recording a 6-0 victory against SDSU and a 6-1 win over Santa Barbra. ASU has taken the doubles point in nine of their 10 matches this season. 
 
• Earns first career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and Arizona State’s 14th all-time weekly nod.
