Pac-12 announces outdoor track & field athletes of the week

The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of March 19-25:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Michael Norman, USC
Sophomore
Murrieta, Calif.

The Bowerman candidate Norman eased to the finish line to win the 200-meter dash at USC's Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge with a time of 20.37 seconds (+1.0), which is the best time in the country to date and moves him to eighth on USC's all-time list. He also anchored USC's winning 4x100 meter relay which ran 38.88, the fourth-fastest time in school history. That time ranks second in NCAA Division I this season by just .04 seconds.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Twanisha Terry, USC
Freshman
Miami, Fla.

Terry blazed to a wind-aided personal-best of 10.97 seconds (+3.5w) to win the 100-meter dash at USC's Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge, edging All-America teammate Deanna Hill (10.98). Terry's time is the fastest among NCAA runners this season and tied for the sixth-fastest wind-aided time in Conference history. She also anchored USC's winning 4x100 meter relay which ran 43.18, the sixth-fastest time in school history and 10th fastest in league records. That time ranks second among NCAA teams this season.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Bryant O'Georgia, Arizona

Phoenix, Ariz.

O'Georgia cleared 2.22 meters (7-3 1/4) to take first in the high jump at the Aztec Invitational. O'Georgia cleared 2.22m on his first attempt to win the contest, set a new PR, earn a share of fifth on Arizona's all-time high jump list and set the No. 2 mark in the country.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Maggie Ewen, Arizona State
Senior
St. Francis, Minn.

The Bowerman candidate and USTFCCCA Division I National Women's Athlete of the Week, Ewen took the NCAA lead in the hammer throw with her second attempt of the weekend to win the event at the Pac-12+/Big Ten Challenge. Her mark of 72.28 meters (237-2) is third in the world in 2018, tops in the West Region by more than five feet and first in the Conference by nearly 20. It would also register as the second best in league history, though Ewen already owns the record set last year. In the discus, Ewen's winning throw of 60.01 meters (196-10) was just shy of her personal best, placed her first in the Pac-12 and second in the NCAA so far this spring.
