Washington

It’s No. 1 vs. No. 3 in the college softball world, and that’s why Graham Hays is calling Washington at UCLA the biggest series of the 2018 season to this point.

Oregon

In a big non-conference game, No. 4 Oregon softball defeated No. 2 Oklahoma 5-0 in Eugene to snap the two-time defending champion Sooners’ 37-game road win streak (Pac-12 Networks recap).

UCLA

The NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships are going down this weekend in St. Louis, and D’arcy Maine of ESPN features UCLA specialist Christine Peng-Peng Lee as the Bruins look to nab a natty. Lee is No. 1 in the nation on the balance beam and No. 9 on uneven bars.

Utah

Meanwhile, Trent Wood of the Deseret News gives us a Utah gymnastics at the NCAA Championships outlook in this article as the Red Rocks look to get back to the Super Six.

Oregon State

On the baseball diamond, No. 6 Oregon State beat Oregon 5-2 in the Civil War series opener buoyed by the return of Nick Madrigal, who sat out the last eight weeks with a broken wrist. Rich Burk and Brian Anderson give us the breakdown in the recap.

California

Former UCLA men’s basketball assistant coach David Grace has joined Wyking Jones’ staff at Cal, Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times reports. Grace is looked at as one of the best recruiters in the country.

Colorado

Colorado’s John Souza was named the Pac-12 Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Friday. The economics major has a 3.32 GPA.

Stanford

Stanford running back Bryce Love spoke on a conference call with reporters Thursday, saying that he decided to return to Stanford for his senior year so he could get his degree and win some more games with his Cardinal teammates. Tom FitzGerald has more in the link.

USC

Jordan McLaughlin and Chimezie Metu were named team co-MVPs at the USC men’s basketball awards banquet Thursday evening, Joey Kaufman reports.
