Semifinals set for Pac-12 Women's Lacrosse Tournament

On the first day of the inaugural Pac-12 Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, No. 4 OREGON and No. 3 USC advance to the semifinals tomorrow to face host No. 1 COLORADO and No. 2 STANFORD, respectively.

The semifinals take place Friday, April 27 at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colo. starting with No. 1 Colorado playing No. 4 Oregon at 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT then No. 2 Stanford going up against No. 3 USC at 3 p.m. PT/4 p.m. MT.

No. 4 Oregon and No. 5 CALIFORNIA met for the first quarterfinal game to kick off the day and the tournament. The Ducks started the game strong with a goal in the first minute and continued the offensive push ending with a final score of 22-9.

Oregon’s Natalie Modly tied for the most goals of the day with six of 22 goals for the Ducks and Jill Zubillaga scored four. Five other student-athletes scored two or more to round out the goals for the Ducks. Cambi Cukar led in assists with seven. The Ducks led the day in draw controls with 21.

No. 1 Colorado and No. 4 Oregon play the first game of the semifinals tomorrow, April 27 at 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT. The Buffs and the Ducks meet for the third time this season with the last determining whether Colorado shared the Pac-12 title or clinched it outright.

In the second quarterfinal game, No. 3 USC and No. 6 ARIZONA STATE battled through a game that saw multiple ties on the scoreboard in the first half. The teams ended the half with USC leading 10-7. USC then dominated the second half, winning the game 19-7.

USC’s Sophia Donovan joined Oregon’s Modly in scoring six goals for the most of the day. Seven other USC student-athletes scored at least one goal of USC’s 19 scored.

The Trojans advance to play No. 2 Stanford tomorrow, April 27 at 3 p.m. PT/4 p.m. MT in the second game of the semifinals. The teams also play for the third time this season with Stanford 2-0 against USC. The matchup on Mar. 25 ended in double overtime, 12-11. The Trojans has 16 draw controls, but the Sun Devils led the day in turnovers with 12.

Following a practice day on Saturday, April 28, the advancing teams from the semifinals will play for the Pac-12 Championship on Sunday, April 29 at 11 a.m. PT/12 p.m. MT.
