April Golfers of the Month

SAN FRANCISCO - Justin Suh of USC and Patty Tavatanakit of UCLA have been named the Pac-12 Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Month for April, the Pac-12 announced today.

Suh, a junior from San Jose, Calif., captured medalist honors at the Pac-12 Championships (April 23-25) in leading the Trojans to their 20th Conference title and first since 2011. He posted a 16-under 268 (68-64-65-71) to clear the field by four strokes. Suh, currently ranked No. 2 nationally by Golfstat, opened the month with a fourth-place finish at the Western Intercollegiate (April 7-8) where he shot an 8-under 202 (67-68-67). He averaged 67.14 strokes over his seven rounds in April.

Tavatanakit, a freshman from Bangkok, Thailand, had an extremely strong month, finishing as a co-medalist at the Silverado Showdown (April 8-10) against a very talented field. Tavatanakit carried that momentum into the Pac-12 Championships, taking home the individual title in a one-hole playoff, as well as helping UCLA to back-to-back Pac-12 team titles. In both events, Tavatanakit shot an eight-under 208, finishing under par in all six rounds of competition.

Tavatanakit finished regular season play with three wins and a No. 5 ranking individually.  She and her Bruin teammates enter postseason play May 7-9 as the No. 1 seed in the West Regional (Harding Park, San Francisco, Calif.)
