Roundup: UCLA men's volleyball plays in NCAA semifinals

UCLA

UCLA men’s volleyball hosts BYU in the NCAA Semifinals Thursday night at Pauley Pavilion at approximately 7:30 p.m. PT. Winner plays the winner of Long Beach State-Ohio State in the finals on Saturday.

Colorado

Old roundup friend Kyle Goon writes that former Colorado star Alec Burks played a major role in the Utah Jazz’s Game 2 victory over the Houston Rockets, scoring 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting (The Salt Lake Tribune). He has battled a lot of injuries over his career, but dude has balled out recently.

Oregon

Geoffrey C. Arnold of The Oregonian/OregonLive lets us know that multiple mock drafts have Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert going second overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. That’s up there.

USC

USC's Tina Graudina was named the 2018 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Freshman of the Year on Thursday. The Latvia native was the only non-Bruin to win a conference award, going 28-2 this season as part of the Trojans' No. 1 pair.

Arizona

Arizona men’s golf will play in the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2013, competing in Kissimmee, Florida, as the No. 6 seed. The Wildcats are one of eight Pac-12 men’s golf teams off to regionals.

Oregon State

Oregon State running back Ryan Nall is excited to work with former Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears, he tells Danny Moran. Helfrich is the new offensive coordinator for the Bears, and it’s his first coaching job since being fired by Oregon at the end of the 2016 season.

Stanford

Stanford is hosting the Payton Jordan Invitational Thursday night, an event that has made its name for fast distance running. Utah

Lynn Worthy features former Utah football co-captain Filipo Mokofisi, who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers after not being one of the 256 selections in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Washington

Scott Hanson of The Seattle Times features Washington rower Bram Schwarz, a sophomore stroke oar for the men’s varsity eight. The Netherlands native has Olympic rowing in his DNA.

Washington State

Washington State baseball will host No. 3 Oregon State this weekend in a Friday-Sunday series. The Cougars enter the weekend at 14-23 overall and 6-12 in conference play, good for a tie for last with Utah.
