Freshman phenom Deandre Ayton worked out the Phoenix Suns Wednesday morning. You could say things went well as Deandre Ayton was quoted as saying, "I know I'm going No. 1" following that session (AZCentral.com).

California

The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships begin Wednesday in Eugene, and Rusty Simmons features Cal pole-vaulter Lauren Martinez in his latest article.

Oregon

For some men’s track action, let’s learn a little bit more about Oregon sprinter Cravon Gillespie, as told to us by Ken Goe of The Oregonian/OregonLive. Goe believes Gillespie can score in both the 100 and 200 this week.

Washington

Washington softball lost to Florida State 8-3 to drop the WCWS championship series in two games. The Dawgs took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and nearly got out of the first with a 3-0 lead but a questionable ball call on a 1-2 pitch with two outs in the first inning eventually gave way to a two-run homer and the Seminoles poured it on in later innings to win its first WCWS title.

UCLA

Three UCLA softball players were named to the All-WCWS Team – Taylor Pack, Rachel Garcia and Bubba Nickles.

Oregon State

Meanwhile, the Beavers are celebrating six MLB Draft picks so far as they get ready to face Minnesota in the Super Regionals. Ron Richmond has the story for The Oregonian/OregonLive.

Stanford pitcher Tristan Beck was drafted in the fourth round by the Atlanta Braves with the 112th overall selection. Beck went 8-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 2018 after missing all of 2017 with an injury.

USC

USC cornerback Jack Jones will play in the junior-college ranks in 2018, head coach Clay Helton said Tuesday (Orange County Register). Helton is hopeful that Jones, who was ruled academically ineligible for 2018, could return to the Trojans in 2019, but he would first need to get his associate’s degree.

Utah

Christopher Kamrani of The Salt Lake Tribune dives into new Utah AD Mark Harlan’s non-conference scheduling philosophy in football and basketball.

Colorado

Colorado women’s basketball signed three players for the 2018 recruiting class on Tuesday – Emma Clarke, Lesila Finau and Kai Volcy. All three will be eligible to play as freshmen next year.

Washington State

Cool story by Jackie MacMullan of ESPN on the childhood and high school nemeses of Klay Thompson and Steph Curry. Granted, this is more about Steph, but some good stuff on Klay as well, and we need to give you an NBA Finals-related link somehow.
