Pacific Premier Bank makes $28,700 donation in support of social justice in connection with Pac-12 Women's & Men's Basketball Tournaments

Mar 15, 2021

LAS VEGAS – The Pac-12 Conference and official bank partner, Pacific Premier Bank (“Pacific Premier”), announced today that following a campaign which ran throughout the 2021 Pac-12 Women’s & Men’s Basketball Tournaments in Las Vegas, Pacific Premier will donate a total of $28,700 to the National Urban League, and in support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The beneficiary organizations were selected by the Pac-12’s Student-Athlete Leadership Team, which recognized each organization’s longstanding commitment to advocating for social justice and racial equity.

Pacific Premier committed to donate $100 to the Pac-12’s Student Athlete Leadership Team’s chosen organizations for every 3-pointer made during the two Pac-12 Basketball Tournaments, with 132 3-pointers made during the Women’s Tournament and 155 3-pointers made during the Men’s Tournament.  The total donation will be split evenly between the National Urban League and HBCUs.

“Pacific Premier Bank strongly supports the fight for social justice and racial equality, and we share a like-minded partner in the Pac-12 Conference,” said Steve Gardner, Chairman and CEO of Pacific Premier. “We are thrilled to be able to collaborate with Pac-12 student-athletes and further the Pac-12’s long history of efforts and initiatives to improve our society and end discrimination.”

“Having a partner like Pacific Premier Bank that is committed to not only supporting the Pac-12 and our student-athletes, but also standing with us in the fight for social justice makes for an incredibly powerful partnership,” said Steve Tseng, Pac-12 Executive Vice President of Sales. “We look forward to continuing to work with Pacific Premier Bank in this critically important initiative in support of social justice.”

"This initiative is a great example of public, private and community-based organizations working together to create opportunity and advance racial and economic justice," National Urban League President Marc H. Morial said. “We’re honored to be selected by the Pac-12’s Student-Athlete Leadership Team, and grateful for Pacific Premier Bank’s generous support.”

Pacific Premier’s commitment was promoted throughout both the Pac-12 Women’s & Men’s Basketball Tournaments across Pac-12 social channels, live broadcasts, and television studio shows in an effort to raise awareness for social justice and racial equality.
