The Pac-12 is represented by a pair of men’s team qualifiers at the NCAA Meet in Stanford and Colorado, ranked ninth and 27th respectively, on the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings. The programs look to win the league’s 17th all-time national title and first since Colorado repeated in 2013 and 2014.

Two-time defending Pac-12 champion Stanford earned its third-straight victory at the NCAA West Regional Championships on Nov. 10 in Sacramento. The Cardinal were led by senior Ky Robinson, who secured the individual title in the men’s 10k following his first-career Pac-12 individual championship last month. In addition to Stanford’s team title hopes, Robinson looks to add an NCAA cross country crown to his resume that already includes NCAA outdoor titles in the 5000m and 10,000m, both won in 2023.

The Cardinal also benefited at Regionals from a fourth-place finish from senior Cole Sprout and 26th-place showing from true freshman Leo Young, twin brother of 2023 Pac-12 Cross Country Freshman of the Year Lex Young. Stanford seeks its fourth all-time national title and first since the Cardinal repeated in 2002 and 2003.

The Buffaloes earned at-large bid to the NCAA Championships after a sixth-place finish at the Mountain Regional; it’s the 33rd-straight appearance at NCAAs for Colorado and 53rd all-time. Austin Vancil was the Buffs’ top runner at Regionals, crossing in 20th place in the men’s 10k. Colorado has five all-time national team titles on the men’s side.

Oregon’s Elliot Cook qualified individually for the NCAA Championships after a 10th-place finish at the West Regional. The junior from Powell, Ohio secured a 35-spot improvement from 2022 West Regionals and is set to make his debut appearance at the National Meet in 2023.

For the 14th time in the last 15 years, the Pac-12 is represented by at least five women’s programs at the NCAA Championships. All five of the Pac-12’s team qualifiers are ranked in the top 17 of the USTFCCCA national poll: No. 5 Stanford, No. 9 Oregon, No. 10 Washington, No. 14 Utah, and No. 17 Colorado. The quintet of teams will race for the league’s 14th national title and first since Colorado’s championship in 2018.

The Cardinal earned their third-straight West Regional title en route to an automatic berth to the National Meet. Stanford regrouped from a second-place finish at Pac-12s and placed each of its scoring five in the top 21 at Regionals, led by junior Lucy Jenks (11th). 2023 Pac-12 Women’s Cross Country Athlete & Freshman of the Year Amy Bunnage was the Cardinal’s second runner at Regionals, crossing in 14th place in front of teammates Sophia Kennedy (15th) and Zofia Dudek (16th).

Oregon earned an automatic bid with a runner-up showing at West Regionals, with junior Maddy Elmore pacing the squad with a fifth-place finish and a 6k time of 19:22.8. The Ducks seek their fifth all-time cross country title on the women’s side, most recently securing the national title in 2016.

2023 Pac-12 champion Washington was third in the West and picked up an at-large bid to the Big Dance, the 17th consecutive NCAA appearance for the Huskies. Pac-12 Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year Maurica Powell looks to guide the Huskies to their first national title since 2008. Notably, Powell was Oregon’s women’s distance coach in 2016 and helped lead the Ducks to a national championship.

Utah and Colorado were the Pac-12’s final at-large qualifiers for the National Meet, finishing third and fourth overall, respectively at the Mountain Regional. The Utes make their sixth all-time appearance at NCAAs and look to improve upon their 12th-place team finish in 2022. Colorado, the Pac-12’s most recent women’s national champion (2018), are back at Nationals for a league-best 33rd consecutive season. Ella Baran paced the Buffs with an 11th-place finish at Regionals, looking to secure All-America acclaim for the second-straight season after a 30th-place finish at the NCAA Meet in 2022.

Oregon State’s Kaylee Mitchell and Grace Fetherstonhaugh qualified individually for the NCAA Meet after impressive performances at the West Regional. Mitchell won the women’s 6k with a time of 19:08.4, picking up the regional title for the second-straight year. Fetherstonhaugh, the 2023 Pac-12 Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Year, was third overall with a time of 19:15.6. Both Mitchell and Fetherstonhaugh are set to make their fourth-career appearances at the National Meet.
