Widner Earns WCGA Regular Season First Team All-American Honors on Beam

STANFORD, Calif. -- Fifth-year senior Chloe Widner earned Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) regular season First Team All-American honors on Beam, the association announced Thursday. 

Widner earns the second All-American honor of her career, earning NCAA All-American honors in 2023 after her performance at the 2023 NCAA Championships on beam, and her first regular-season all-American award. She is the first Cardinal student-athlete since Kyla Bryant in 2020 to be honored as a regular-season WCGA All-American. 

Student-athletes with the top-8 National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties) on each event and in the all-around earned first team All-America honors. Gymnasts that ranked No. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS earned second team All-America honors.

The Frisco, Texas native has had a special fifth-year season, highlighted by her 2024 Pac-12 Specialist of the Year honor on Tuesday alongside an All-Pac-12 First Team Selection on Beam. She earned the first 10.000 on beam by a Cardinal since February 2004 on March 10, 2024 against California in her final appearance in Maples Pavilion, leading the Cardinal to its second-best score in program history of 197.975 and its best home score in over 20 years. On beam, Widner ranks fifth in the conference and eighth in the nation. Through eight routines this season, Widner scored above 9.925 on six performances and 9.950-or-better in five of those efforts.  In her career, the Frisco, Texas native has hit 39-of-42 beam routines with 21 of her performances earning a 9.900-or-better score. 

Stanford concluded its regular season ranked No. 19 nationally, boasting an NQS of 197.045 highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the 2024 Pac-12 Championships. The Cardinal travels to Berkeley, Calif. to compete in the NCAA Regionals hosted by California, competing Friday, April 5 in the evening second-round meet against No. 3 California, No. 14 Auburn, and the winner of the round one meet between San Jose State and Southern Utah.
